Future Soundtrack for America
Monday, July 26, 2004 at 5:47PM It may have been out awhile, but Jen just brought my attention to the tracklisting for "Future Soundtrack for America," the compilation CD assembled by TMBG's John Flansburgh for MoveOn.org. Here's the tracklist:
- "This Will Be Our Year," OK Go
- "Ain't Got So Far To Go," David Byrne
- "Game of Pricks" (BBC Evening Session), Jimmy Eat World
- "This Temporary Life," Death Cab For Cutie
- "I Miss You" (James Guthrie mix), Blink-182
- "Move On," Mike Doughty
- "Jerry Falwell Destroyed the Earth," Ben Kweller
- "Off With Your Head," Sleater-Kinney
- "Final Straw (MoveOn mix)," R.E.M.
- "Going for the Gold" (live)," Bright Eyes
- "The Commander Thinks Aloud" (future mix), the Long Winters
- "Money," will.i.am
- "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too," They Might Be Giants
- "The Ballad of David Icke," Clem Snide
- "Date With the Night" (live), Yeah Yeah Yeahs
- "Everything's Ruined" (acoustic), Fountains Of Wayne
- "Your Legs Grow," Nada Surf
- "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" (live on the BBC), the Flaming Lips
- "Northern Line," Old 97's
- "Sam Stone," Laura Cantrell
- "Day After Tomorrow," Tom Waits
- "A Distorted Reality Is Now a Necessity To Be Free," Elliott Smith
Damn. I would buy this if the proceeds went to stamp out democracy in developing nations. It does look like it was partly pulled offa my iPod. I don't all of these artists, but I bet I end up liking nearly all of them. Me and Flans, we like this (take fingers in peace sign, point at eyes, then point out in space).
It's available August 17, but according to the label's Web site, "you just might be able to get it a few days earlier if you're on the MoveOn e-mail list..." Just another reason to do just that.
And now, back to halfway watching day 1 of the convention.
