Browsing the Dusty Stacks

For the first time in a couple of years, Jen and I went to the local CD store on the corner of our street. It was great just browsing the stacks, getting dust on my fingertips from CDs that hadn't been touched in months. It's an experience that I hadn't realized I was missing in this age of MP3s and iTunes.

Woody's has a great deal right now where they offer six used CDs for $25. It's a good enough deal where you feel like you can take a chance on music you may have heard of but never actually heard. It's a completely different experience from sampling music online. You can judge a CD by it's cover, at least a little.

So Jen and I picked up a few compilations from the early nineties. She also bought Slippery When Wet, which I was a little concerned about taking to the checkout counter but somehow mustered the courage to. I picked up one by longtime local favorites and huge-in-Japan Powerpopsters The SpongeTones, as well as The Mayflies, who I'd always heard that I would like.

I think I will be stopping by Woody's more often.
