Trillogism

The Star Wars trilogy came today in the mail. I'm not sure I'll ever watch them, but it sure is nice having them.

I'm watching this lenghty piece on the special features disc called "Star Wars: Empire of Dreams," which traces the making of the original trilogy from conception through completion. Right now, this piece is more interesting to me than the actual movies. It's cool to see these seventies-era geeks using whatever tools were available to them at them at the time to create visual effects that had never before been seen.

Sure, I'm nostalgic for what the original trilogy represents. The new films have lacked the heart that drove the originals, but I am excited how what I've seen of the next film actually puts some nice ties into the original trilogy. Maybe...just maybe...it won't suck.
