Nothing is Sacred

I heard that 80's pop star Debbie Gibson will be appearing in Playboy. My youth is officially finished. Didn't Debbie move from teen stardom to obscurity to success on the Broadway stage?? And now it's come to this. It's a sad comment on the state of celebrity.

About three years ago, we actually saw Debbie Gibson perform. It was one of those things you do for irony value but secretly kind of enjoy. We knew nearly every song, from the "Imagine"-esque "Lost in Your Eyes" to the infectious one-two punch of "Only In My Dreams" and "Shake Your Love":

Shake your love
I just can't shake your love
Shake your love
I just can't shake...your love

Brilliant.

Posing in Playboy makes perfect sense for Tiffany, sure, but Debbie?

I couldn't agree more. I was very bothered by her decision. It felt like a kind of loss. I wrote a long post complaining about it. Too bad.
