You Can't Take It With You

Maybe you can, but if so, I haven't figured out how. Since our server admin thanklessly rebuilt my PC (yet again. I owe this guy some trips to Qdoba.) after an incredibly-fortunate-in-retrospect simultaneous hardware and software failure (hats off, Dell and Microsoft), I had him soup it up for its final stretch run until I can get a new Mac.  That means a new 120 GB hard drive, USB 2.0 and Firewire, and a 16x dual layer DVD burner.

The upshot is, I wanted to move control of my iPod from the lowly G3 iMac to the reinvigorated Dell PC (PC to Mac is not the typical switch, believe me, I know). Using an iPod with a PC after having used it with a Mac requires installing Apple's 40 MB iPod updater, and then reformatting the iPod. D'oh. This also involved moving all my MP3s from the Mac to the PC, and then rebuilding all of my playlists. I only had about three GB on the iPod, but still. If you can take the playlists and such with you from one box to the next, I'd like to know how. Once I got it all up and running, though, it was a nearly seamless user experience from iTunes Mac to PC.
