Morrissey Recording...Again.
Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 5:25PM Damn. Morrissey must be serious about this return to the limelight thing. First last year sees You Are The Quarry, and the mere fact that it didn't suck was a feat that late-model R.E.M. has yet to match. That was followed shortly by the live album and DVD Live At Earl's Court, which caused some alarm because he dared to include some Smiths songs on it. That album was simply one of the finest live albums I've ever heard. The sound quality is amazing, not to mention the great selection of songs.
And here we are in late 2005 with word that Morrissey is returning to the studio in Rome next week to record a follow-up. Looks like the old guy's got a few surprises left in him yet. Morrissey's producer on the new album is Jeff Saltzman, who produced The Killers' Hot Fuss, and his influence on Morrissey's sound could produce some very cool results.
