Slate Diary from Charlotte
Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at 12:07PM All week, Slate is running a weeklong diary by Judd Apatow, the writer/director behind the TV show "Freaks and Geeks" (never saw it, but supposedly it was clever) and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Apatow is temporarily living in Charlotte - uh, I mean, Charlotte, NC - where he is working on the new Will Farrell NASCAR film called - wait for it - Ricky Bobby. But far from the typical Hollywood reaction to Charlotte (when it considers the city at all, which isn't very often), e.g. the final episode of Sex and the City, Apatow is quite respectful. His Tuesday entry describes his daughter's reaction:
I brought my family and was concerned that they would not like it here and that they would want to come home in three days, not the scheduled three months. But the opposite has happened. My daughter, who is in second grade, is going to school while we are here, and she does not want to leave.
Hey, it happens to lots of people. Of course, it's only Tuesday. See how he feels on Friday.
