Study: Whiny Kids are Future Conservatives

Last week, some Republicans around the office were circulating a story about a study that indicated that Republicans are happier than Democrats. I think they found the study on Drudge Report or something. I don't know. I'm not going to look for it. The results of that study are easy to understand. I'm sure that moral certitude leads to happiness. It's the path of least resistance.

Another study surfaced today. This one takes a sampling of kids in the Berkeley, Calif. area (yeah, I know), and found that over twenty years, whiny kids grow up rigid and traditional. They end up as conservatives, comfortable with traditional gender roles and social structures, and eschewing ambiguity.

Confident kids turned out liberal, with wide ranging social interests and general curiosity about the world.

No matter what you think about any subject, you can find a study and statistics to back it up. I don't put any stock in this study. Or the other one. But I do believe that the way kids are raised probably does end up affecting their political outlook later in life. Most of the kids I was raised with were Republicans from the day they were born, and most probably still are. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Republicans are happier becuase they have more money...And they are republican becuase they are rich and don't want to pay more taxes. He He!
I admit, I would be happy if I had a lot of money, too!
