Sid and Susie and Tilly and the Wall

1 Comment Tuesday sees the release of Under The Covers Vol. 1 by Susanna Hoffs and Matthew Sweet. They're recording as "Sid" and "Susie," and have been working together off and on since the Austin Powers films. This rightcheer is what your high-quality power pop is all about. Please let there be a volume two. I am an unabashed fan of both the Bangles and Matthew Sweet, and Sweet put on an energetic and powerful show when I saw him in Chapel Hill years ago.
My Old Kentucky Blog has posted two of the tracks from the album, "Cinnamon Girl" and "Care of Cell #44." Holy schnike - they sound good. Covers also include "And Your Bird Can Sing," "Who Knows Where The Time Goes," "Sunday Morning," and "Warmth of the Sun." Nice of them to consult my iPod before choosing their song. I bought Morrissey's Ringleader of the Tormentors last week; I'll get this tomorrow. I'm buying CDs like they're going out of style. Oh wait.
Another upcoming release to look forward to is Tilly and the Wall, who I first heard on NPR late last year. Their Bottoms of Barrels will be released on Saddle Creek. The sound is very full, melodic, and busy. You Ain't No Picasso has posted two tracks, MOKB a third to keep us satisfied until the full release on May 23.

You're frickin' hilarious. I laughed several times while reading this post. Wait - I just read the part about CDs and laughed again. Good on you.
