Lost - But Not In My Eyes
Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 7:09PM We were late getting on the Lost bandwagon, but we caught season one on DVD and were in the middle of watching season two in reruns on ABC when one week, there was nothing but George Lopez as far as the eye could see. I thought maybe it was an anomaly, but the same thing happened the next week, and the next.
Until that fateful July 12, when my Lost world got suspended in carbonite after Mr. Eko questioned Charlie about the Virgin Mary statue, our ABC affiliate was showing them, sometimes two a week.
One of my coworkers was equally pissed, and called our ABC station, who told us that the midstream Lost stoppage came straight from ABC. Kinda weird, as the ABC Web site and message boards showed that some markets were still getting the weekly reruns.
To get tinfoil hat about it, this is all a master plan by new Disney board member Steve Jobs to sell more Lost season passes on iTunes. Or maybe they're just trying to move the season two DVDs, which come out on September 5. Either way, it's friggin' wrong. You don't just show half a season of non-canceled visual crack and then just stop cold turkey. Wrong.
At least we had a friend mail us a good part of season two on DVDs ripped from Japanese TV.
Still. Don't tell me what happens.
